Monica Jane: 7 Months

Sweet sweet baby girl,

You are growing up so fast. You're already moving across the floor inchworm-style and as soon as you figure out how to use your knees, you'll be crawling around here twice as fast. We need to watch out for you, you little speedster!

You are smiling and interacting so much more than before. We can see how much you are starting to come into your own personality and I LOVE it... especially because you act more and more like me every day. You love to be involved and a part of the conversation. When you don't have something to say to contribute to the conversation, you still sit back and attentively study everyone involved. It seems like you just stare at people (which is kinda on the rude side if you don't grow out of that... people don't like it once you're not a baby anymore), but we know you're just soaking up every detail. Your brain is working so hard!

You follow us around now in your own little way... and by that I mean by inching on your tummy or barrel-rolling over to us. You are SO CLOSE to sitting up on your own, but you haven't quite figured out how to swing onto your bottom from your hip and let your arms help you balance. You are still reaching all of your milestones easily, so gold stars for you! (which I know you'll appreciate because you like sparkly and shiny things, again, like me. That's why I paint my toenails crazy colors with tons of sparkles for you. You don't get much of a view from down there and I get that).

You are still getting used to the purees we give you, and by that I mean you love the food (except peaches apparently) but you lap it up off of the spoon like a puppy. It's sloppy, but my favorite. No one really expects you to have excellent table manners at this age, so you're good for a little while. Just for fun, here's a clip of you trying-oh-so-very-hard to like peaches. I could watch this all day:

You seem like you're a mama's girl, which is fine by me. You still get excited to see Daddy, but you get REALLY excited for me. It's awesome. Now I know how Daddy felt with Celine when she was your age. You love to give us kisses (a.k.a., grab our faces and lick/suck on our cheeks and noses). You are super ticklish and it is getting easier each day to make you laugh. "So big" is probably your favorite game, or playing peekaboo with a blanket. You're getting pretty good at that too!

I know that sometimes I can't always help you right away when you call me, but I promise that I am still here, I will always be here, and I love love love you. Please be patient with me... we can keep figuring this whole thing out together. You are so different than anyone that I have ever met. You are special, unique, and all ours.

Love,

Mom

You're usually more excited than this to hang out with me.
